“Job search” stirs emotion in men and women.  Whether by choice or layoff, uncertainty looms.  It is also the opportunity to slow down, take a personal inventory and pursue a career that excites you and allows you to work passionately ever after.  Listed below are some tips to launch you forward:

• Determine your dream job.  (What would you consider exciting, fun and rewarding?)

• Examine your experience and skills.  Consider taking additional training or earning certifications specific to the career you desire.  A class is a great networking system.

• Prepare a results-oriented resume that clearly defines your skills and the bottom-line benefit you offer to a potential employer.

• Develop a multi-pronged game plan.  Be open to unique opportunities to meet key decision makers.

• Remember that the number one way to find opportunities is through networking.

• Identify potential employers that offer the dream job opportunity.

• Make a list of everyone you know and contact them for leads to anyone they know who works for the desired companies.  This process will significantly expand your network.

• Prepare and rehearse a 30 second commercial for effectively selling yourself and tailoring your abilities to the job you are seeking.

• Make your sales presentations in person.  Be enthusiastic and positive.  Close the sale!

• Continue to knock on doors until you achieve your success.  YOU are in control…of what YOU do.
